Reasons Why People Are Seeking Cosmetic Surgery
March 21st, 2010
A lot of people are now seeking the aid of cosmetic surgeons to improve how they look and thus boost their morale. These type of people are no longer just limited to the wealthy ones or to the artists. Nowadays, cosmetic surgery has been made available to average people and each and everyone has different reasons for taking on cosmetic surgery.
One of the primary reasons why people are engaging in cosmetic surgery is to combat the reflections of the hands of time on their skin and bodies. People are very conscious when they discover wrinkles showing on their faces. They panic when they see receding hair lines. Thus they look for the service of plastic or cosmetic surgeons. Procedures such as facelift, skin rejuvenation, and Botox are among the popular choice for people with age.
Some people who have scars caused by accidents also go to cosmetic surgeons for help. Through cosmetic surgery, they are hoping that they can wipe off the marks of the sad events in their lives as well as to reacquire their former looks.
Some people take cosmetic surgery to further improve their looks. This is very common for artists who have sufficient money to finance expensive operations. The common cosmetic surgery procedures that they commonly undergo are liposuctions, nose surgery, breast augmentation, breast lift and skin resurfacing. The society has heavy pressures on them to look good, that is why they strive to appear their best even if they have to spend a great deal of money.
Thus with the wide array of market, the demand for cosmetic surgery has been constantly going up. As the procedures being provided kept on increasing and the price is kept on low-priced rate, it is anticipated that in the years to come, getting cosmetic surgery will just be like getting a powder in a beauty section of a store.
As for now, it is advised that before trying any of the procedures, it is best that you carefully think about it first, consider the potential effects that it might cause into your bodies. As we all know, no procedure is 100% complication free.

Dysport and Botox
March 19th, 2010
Botox Injections
Botox Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium Botulinum Bacterium which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause glabellar lines (frown lines) that form between the brows. It’s available from nearly all medical spas and laser clinics. Botox can last up to 6 months but results may vary and you many need treatments sooner.
A consultation from the medical spa physician or medical provider should be done prior to receiving treatment. This initial examination will include a review of allergies, medications and possible contraindications that could temporarily prevent or preclude this treatment. This will also be the time the patient’s expectations will be set about the outcome of the treatment. Fortunately, Botox, Dysport, and Reloxin are among the most common medical spa and laser clinic treatments and complications are very rare.
Once the patient is determined to be a candidate an appointment will be set for the injection. On that day the area will be cleaned and prepped for the injection. A cold pack or an anesthetic may be used to minimize discomfort to the client. The medical provider will determine the areas of injection by examining the patient’s ability to move certain muscles in the brow area. Tiny injections of Botox will be made into the muscles responsible for creating the lines.
There may be some mild side effects at the injection site. A small amount of pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding or bruising . Other reported side effects include headache, respiratory infection, flu syndrome, temporary eyelid droop and nausea.
Contraindications for Botox, Dysport, & Reloxin:
- Pregnancy / breast feeding / planning to become pregnant
- Diseases that affect the nerves or muscles( Parkinson’s & MS)
- Gentamicin, Tobramycin, Clindamycin, Lincomycin
- Medications for hearth rhythm problems
- Medications for Myasthenia Gravis and/pr Alzheimer’s disease
Dysport(Reloxin)
Dysport is a new competitor to Botox that’s just been approved by the FDA.
Reloxin was the previous name until the manufacturers decided on the name of “Dysport” upon FDA approval. Although Botox Cosmetic and Dysport function in the same manner and have the same contraindications and results, it should be known that the dosing units of the two agents differ. Botox and Dysport cannot be combined.
