Movie Download Possibilities: Rambo Part 4

If you want to see a straight forward, no nonsense action flick, then the next time you log in to your movie download service, put Rambo on the queue. Rambo 4. It’s just called Rambo even though it’s the fourth in the series. It goes like this: First Blood, First Blood Part 2: Rambo, Rambo 3, and then just Rambo. It’s confusing, there’s no telling why they did it like that. Why not just First Blood, Rambo 2, Rambo 3 and Rambo 4? Well there’s no telling. But, Rambo is sort of a return to the roots of the series.
Rambo 2 and 3 were sort of these bloated, excessive Hollywood action flicks, which didn’t do justice to the low key original. This was their undoing, as they became complicated and confusing, rather than passionate, true and exciting. Rambo 4 is much simpler, more straightforward, and much more pure. It’s also just plain a much better film.
First Blood is still the best. It dealt with the same sort of subject matter as Taxi Driver, that being the disillusionment and cynicism that many Vietnam War Veterans felt after returning home from that country. After First Blood, a number of veterans who met Stallone in public would shake his hand, tears in their eyes, and thank him for telling the truth about what life in the US is like for veterans… Nobody did that regarding Rambo 2. This one, though, has a social message as well.
The film takes place in Burma, a place that is, in real life, right now, in the middle of a very violent civil war. Stallone wanted to use his position as a Hollywood star to turn attention towards a real, pressing issue, and he chose Burma. In fact, he shot right outside of the real Burma and was given death threats by the very same army that he vilifies in the film.
The movie took courage to create, having been filmed on the outskirts of Burma. Stallone received death threats from the very same militants he vilifies in the film. The end result is that the film actually did succeed in turning international attention towards the problems being faced by the people of Burma.
The way the action is filmed is interesting. Rambo kills hundreds of bad guys, but it’s all shot in a sort of a realistic style that really sets it apart from the usual excess of action films. It feels, if not quite real, at least real enough that it doesn’t feel cartoony, it doesn’t trivialize violence, it actually deals with it head on.
The movie really develops in a pure way. It’s just action. A woman is kidnapped. Rambo saves her. The end. In this simple structure there’s an enormous amount of depth to what you can do with the action and characters. In fact, without a lot of plot getting in the way, the movie can really get down to the heart of what the STORY is all about.
Stallone is really on the comeback trail. He came out with Rocky Balboa which put him back on top after a series of flops, and soon we’ll have The Expendables, a classic Dirty Dozen style action flick. It seems that all it took was for him to remember what he was really good at: Manly movies with a real heart and soul. Hopefully he’ll stay on top this time.

Download Movies You Can Get: Mad Max 2

The Road Warrior, known as Mad Max 2 in Australia, is, simply put, one of the all time classics. It is, without a doubt, one of the greatest action stories ever put to film and, perhaps, one of the all time great films, period. It is sort of the action film answer to Citizen Kane or Casablanca. The movie is well crafted and the story well told. Even with the breakneck pace and chaos within the story, the movie remains clear and coherent the whole way through, and is one of the all time must download movies.
There aren’t many movies that work so well as action movies while being one of those films you might consider to be one of the greatest ever made. However, the film is just so incredibly strong on so many levels that you have to recognize how good it is as a film regardless of whether or not you’re usually a big fan of action flicks.
If you haven’t seen it, and somehow have no idea what it’s about: Mad Max Rockatansky is a former cop wandering a wasted outback in Australia. Food and water have become scarce after World War III, as has gasoline. Max is trying to find enough resources just to keep himself alive from day to day as he wanders across the wasteland.
Eventually he must come to terms with his own humanity or lack thereof. Throughout the previous film, the first Mad Max, Max lost touch with his own humanity in the pursuit of vengeance. Now he must reaffirm himself as human, as a member of society, or… What’s left of it, anyways.
The movie is really just one big chase scene, only stopping here and there just long enough to give the audience a moment to catch their breath. While a lesser movie might have been made boring by all this action, in The Road Warrior, the action and the story are one and the same. Character and plot are both developed through action, not like the modern action flick where the fights and chases only get in the way of the story.
The movie is really all about the nature of heroism. It gets into the Joseph Campbellian concepts of mythology and comes out with a legendary story that many Australians consider “The Australian Star Wars” in terms of cultural importance. It is, of course, one of the national treasures of the Australian cinema, and one of the most successful films ever to come from that country.
The movie is, really, a classic western in a new setting. It belongs on the same shelf as Stagecoach as one of the all time great examples of how the classic John Ford and Howard Hawks westerns developed their own stories.
The movie is loud, fast and aggressive, full of insane characters and crazy stunts (several stuntmen almost died, in fact). It may well be one of the greatest films ever made for storytelling and craftsmanship, and if not, it’s certainly one of the all time great action films, and certainly worth a watch whether or not you’re usually an action fan. It’s definitely one to see before you die, and if you haven’t seen it yet, you want to ASAP.

TV And Movie Download Service: The Drew Carey Show

The most important and innovative television series of the nineties was, without a doubt, Seinfeld. However, Drew Carey deserves recognition, as well, as one of the more innovative and inventive shows of that decade. People don’t always name it as one of the most innovative series of all time, but in its own way, it was every bit as important to the development and evolution of the American sitcom as Seinfeld and The Simpsons had been. Without Drew Carey, Family Guy might not have grown into such an absurd show in its later seasons. It really changed how people regard and judge the modern sitcom, and it definitely belongs on your list of downloads the next time you log into your movie download service.
The show was really just meant as a vehicle to get Drew Carey’s face out there back in the era where every comedian really just wanted to be a TV star, and it could have been just another sitcom with just another comedian starring, but they managed to really take it in a different direction, starting with the subject of the show.
It’s not a family sitcom, it’s a single guy sitcom, about a guy in his forties who is not happy with his life.
The show made a lot of artistic innovations with its weird format episodes like the live, improve event episodes and some interesting directorial touches like the “World Keeps Turning” intro. The show allowed its writers, directors and actors to really take a lot of chances and explore new territory with every single aspect of the show, resulting in a quirky sitcom unlike anything else we’d ever seen on television.
By the end of the series, Carey was making something like a million dollars an episode but, sadly, the ratings were starting to drop and the show had to be canceled, even though it did garner a loyal following who would always make sure that they were at home after work in time to watch it.
The most refreshing thing about the show really was that its focus wasn’t on the same thing as every other show. No football widow jokes, no stories about the son borrowing the car without asking. The characters are easier to relate to because they don’t feel like generic television characters.
It’s something of an acknowledgement that family can mean “You and your friends”, that family can be defined however you choose to define it, and that the mom, dad and kids aren’t the only backbone of family in the United States, and furthermore, that for family to only possibly mean dad, mom and kids is really excluding so many other real families from inclusion in what it means to love the people around you.
And of course, Lewis and Oswald may be the two funniest comic relief characters of the nineties… Well, after Cosmo Kramer, you could say.
